Default Epson 960 vs. R300

I'm looking to buy a new photo printer to replace my old Epson 870. Since I want the ability to print directly to CD/DVD, I narrowed my search down to the 960 and the new R300.

I'd primariliy use this printer for printing photos and labeling CD/DVD blanks. I'd also use it for printing a few things in color (my primary text printer is an old laser printer).

At first I was leaning toward the 960 because it had the smaller picoliter droplets and had took roll paper.

Then I heard that the R300 is dye based, but, uses a formula more advanced than the 960's.

Does anyone know if the R300's dye is that superior to the 960's? Would the R300 print better photos than the 960?

If the answer is yes, I might give up the roll paper and go with the R300 instead.

- Thanks for any feedback,
