Default Epson R1800 Problem turns off on print job

I have an Epson R1800 which had a badly clogged head which cleaning wouldn't fix. I pulled the head out andsoaked it in water for a few hours. This restored most of the nozzles. I repeated the exersize with "Windex".
Now when I go to print or do nozzle check the head moves to the far left and the printer switches itself off (or at least the power light goes off).

Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks

Haven't had this happen, but am guessing that there is a switch not being made. The carriage movement is done to establish head position at beginning of a print job. There should be a switch or sensor at that end which determines the head position. If the head was installed even a little bit off, it may not be making the switch.
Another possibility is that the indexing tape was damaged somehow. It is what the printer uses to count position.
