Default Tips for creating a borderless album / book

I visited a Doctors house last weekend and they showed me an album where each page looked nearly canvas. The album had no borders and reminded me of childrens books with thick pages. It had about 20 pages and I couldn't quite believe how nice it looked.

I am not a professional photographer and I am wondering if anyone knows how this was created. I would love to do it myself, or second best send my pics to an online store such as shutterfly.

I'm sure this person paid $1,000 US (or more) for this work of art, and my budget is nowhere near that. But I would sure like to take a stab a recreating it on a much smaller budget.

Any tips, websites, or otherwise would be appreciated.

p.s. Has anybody had good experiences with canvas printing?

Someone else asked the same question about printing on canvas and this was my reply

I printed 1 picture on canvas, 8x10, that was sent to me by Hammermill as part of a sample pack. It is a picture of my granddaughter (do not know how to post pictures on here or I would). It was printed on an old Canon BJ3000 and was taken with a Sony Mavica with very low resolution.

I had the picture professionally mounted and framed. It is on my wall and whoever sees it asks how I got her to sit still for a portrait painting.

If I ever manage to get another picture that good I would certainly print it on canvas.
I hope this helps.
