Default Epson R200 thinks the DVD tray is out

I love my Epson R200 and would like to continue to use it, but when starting a print job, the paper won't feed because the status monitor reports the DVD tray is out. I have tried taping it shut and if I press it closed for each sheet it will print. That is a pain.

Is there a solution? I'm sure there is a sensor somewhere that I could trick into thinking the DVD tray is properly closed.

Thanks for all the ink information for this printer. So far all is good and I love the prints I get with the Epson inks. Don't know of a good replacement. Also have an R1800 with no clogging problems.

Love your site.

If the R200 is set up like the R1800, there is a switch that tells the printer when the tray door is open. It sounds like yours is just a little out of adjustment or alignment. It may be possible to build up a bit of sticky tape on the door where it contacts the switch, and get it to function. You may also be able to use a stick-on rubber bumper such as you would find in Housewares or Hardware section of a department store.

I don't know where the contact or switch is. Nothing jumps out at me when I look for it. Any thoughts?
