That is very strange. I too have an i960 and I tried printing black color blocks on plain paper just to see what would happen. They were as black as I think it gets. Mayhem has a good idea - try the High Res HR101 paper and see if you get different results.

Also, harr840, after doing extensive print testing between the i960 and the R300...I will have to respectfully disagree. The i960 produced far better (and more accurate) color, is phenominally faster and from my estimates about 25% cheaper per print to operate. As for the other features, I was looking for a photo printer, not a card reader and a optical media label printer.

I have an R300, no problems and the prints are phenomenal with perfect color. There is no clogging problem at all. Also have the Stylus Photo 820, another winner and only costs $79!

HP are nice because they feed from the botton but the TCO is very high because the print head is part of the cartridge (very wasteful and expensive.)

I have a Canon i905d and like it because you do not even have to connect up to the computer to run off excellent borderless prints on Canon photo paper up to A4 size. All the editing etc., can be done from the inbuilt LCD on the printer. Seperate ink tanks too so hopefully it will be cheaper to run than my present printer now attached to the computer. Isn't this modern technology wonderful!
