i've used Steve's site many times and the info has been crucial to my decisions in the past but i have never written into a forum of any kind (forgive me my naiveté). this site has grown so much in the last years that after 2 days of looking for answers, this must be the place...
i'm looking for a good, cheap photo printer to print photos from my (ibm thinkpad R51) laptop. 4x6 or 6x9 is about as large as i will want to print photos though 8.5 x 11 is important for letters. and portability is an issue. it has to fit into a laptop travel case. if it is wiser to get a small printer that will only print small sizes, i would opt for that over some huge cumbersome machine. Most large jobs can be handled by my desktop outfit which is howling (it took only a few hours consideration of steve's canon vs epson 2200 reviews to decide that one. oh, in case this helps, my gear is: canon d-60, nikon coolscan4000... if there is a smallish photo scanner you can recommend that is somehow dedicated or ideal, that would be swell).
I have heard many good things about canon's small printers, so i am leaning towards canon.
