I am thinking about buying a photo printer, maybe a Canon i9900 or the iP8500. I don't take a lot of pictures but want good quality.

My question is, do the ink tanks dry up over time.

Does anyone one have a ballpark idea of how many pictures I should get before I have to replace a ink tank? (Most of the pictures would be 5x7 or 4x6)

Is there a diference between pigment based inks verses dye based, which is better?

What about fading over time?
