I was at staples looking at printers and seen that they have the Epson for 399 and a 100.00 rebate to make it 299.I already have an Epson r200 and r800 and love both. How does the Epson 1280 compare? It looks nice cause it is a wide format printer but how do they print. Is this a good buy?How does this 1280 print in comparason to the r1800 wide format?

Has anyone here had any experience with this printer?Good or Bad?

How does the 1280 print in comparison to the r200?

Does the 1280 use the Durabrite or Ultrachrome ink?

Thanx in advance.

I used the Epson 1270, the predecessor to the 1280, for a number of years and was quite happy with it. It uses an older dye-based ink rather than either Durabrite or Ultrachrome ink. The ink for the 1280 is very fade resistant but not as archival as the pigment-based inks. On the other hand the ink is compatable with lots of 3rd party glossy papers.
