Default Epson 950/960 Owners - some questions.....

Hi guys

I've currently got an HP 959C printer which has performed quiet well over the last couple of years - but recently the damn photo tray into which the printer feeds 6X4 media has started to play up. Every now and then it decides to either to refuse any media or takes it and promptly chews it all up.

So onto the questions.......I'm thinking of replacing it with an Epson 950 (960)- I've ruled out the newer HP printers as they seem to still use the same media tray mechanism.

What I would like to know is how does the 950 accept non standard media - in other words 6X4 photo paper?

Does it rely on the cardboard paper guides that come with Epson 6X4 media?

Or do you just line it up on the tray and it feeds straight in?

Any problems with skewed prints or the media getting chewed up?

If you mean the 4x6 tray as its slightly referred to. There is no cardboard media guides required with any of the papers that I know of. It should be able to take 4x6 paper right out of the box no problems or questions asked. But the other cool thing the 950 can do the is the roll paper which is good if you like to stitch up photos. The only thing I dont like about roll its that it curls. But if you reverse curl it that seems to be the best trick to getting rid of the curl.

Cheers for the reply.

I bought the 950 yesterday - now I've just got to find a spare half hour to set it up.....fun awaits
