I have noticed that when I print off a photo on my Epson printer that it slightly squashes peoples faces down. This is only noticeable on close up portraits but is obviously there in all photo's.
I'm inclined to think it's a printer problem because the P C image looks correct before printing. So what I have to do is guess the difference in P/S elements transform, then hope the print out matches the original image on my PC screen. Does anyone else have this problem? is it an Epson thing? Your thoughts on this please.

It is possible, depending on the photo, paper, and printer settings, to get some distortion. Using the borderless setting on the printer driver, will expand the image somewhat, and if the image aspect ratio is not the same as the paper, the print may be expanded more in one dimension than the other. Have you tried various paper sizes, and noticed the problem on all of them, or is it just one particular print size?

VTphotohog,
It is more noticeable on 5x7 but is still there slightly on A4 but not so much. I do crop at 5x7 if I am printing at that size usually. Having said that, I most of the time print faces at 5x7 and landscape at A4. I think you have hit on something here that I wouldn't have thought of.

I have had a look at the image I printed at 7"x 5"", i found that I hadn't cropped it at all. Dohh !
The original is shown approx 14. 1/2" x 9. 1/2", which printing down to 7" x5" ought to have made the printed version taller, or am I missing something?. So I cropped to 7" x 5" printed at 7" x 5" with a 2mm border and it is very slightly better owing to the fact that the border was 2 mm all the way around ,with the previous pic it was 3mm at the top and 2mm at the sides?? but the pic is still noticeably flatter than my pc image. Yours, still puzzled, deadshot

Curious. Do you have another application you can print from, such as Irfanview? I have not been happy with PS for printing, but that may be because I find it more complicated than Photoimpact, which I use mostly.
There may be driver updates for your printer, as well. Other than that, I am pretty well stumped. brian |

Thanks for the reply Brian.
No I dont but I did try downloading Irfanview some while ago and it came with all sorts of unwanted add ons, so I got rid of it. At the moment I usually print straight out of the P/s Elements editor. Thanks for your help anyway. I'll make sure that I crop to my print size from now on. Regards John
