Default Any printing tips for the Epson 900/960 printer family?

I am brand new to this digital camera arena (C-700) and printing.

The 900 I have has worked very well for mostly text printing and I am hoping to use this printer while I am learning digicams, etc. I know the 900 is a couple of years old technology-wise (1440 by 720); but printing text documents verse quality photos are two different animals! It has 3 'micro-something' print nozzles to print finer 'dots'; but I am a little confused with all the printing options/ parameters!?!

1) I am wondering if anyone has any 'do this' or 'DON'T do this' tips for printing with the Epson 900 printer family?

2) Any comments on which photo paper(s) seems to work the best?
I would assume Espon products - but you never know - and the Epson paper is not cheap! If there is any 'cheaper' off-brand papers that work as well please let me know.

3) Any words of wisdom on Espons' or printers in general?

Thanks in advance for and info and advice!
