Iwould like to order the Epson 3800 replacing a 1270. But before I plunk my money down, the 37 inch max paper length seems the only draw back. I do primarily panoramas and 44 inches on the 1270 was maxed at times. But there were alternatives to this.

Certainly the many positive aspects of the 3800 out weigh this one negative, but was looking for reassurance that ' limit 37 ' can beexceeded or it can't...

Any thoughts on this?

Qimage can easily break the paper length limit on any printer, provided the printer offers a roll/banner mode for the paper feed. If you don't have roll/banner mode, you can still only print 37 inches but with Qimage's poster feature, you can print any length you want and then just cut/paste the sections together. There's an example in the Qimage help about how to defeat paper length limitations in printer drivers:
