I have a Canon CP-200 Dye Sub printer and therefore have to crop at 6 x 4.

I crop exactly with themesurements 6in 4in and 300 ppi

Image size to start is 2592 x 1944 pixels

Sure enough after the crop the image size is 1800 x 1200 pixels and width/height is 6 x 4 at 300 ppi

What I don't understand, is that I can continue to re-crop using the same 6 x 4 measurements. I didn't expect there would be anything to re-crop on the second (and third etc times).

Can anyone tell me why?

hmm, the only cropping you should need would be into the ratio 3:2. Other than that you can just use the change image size and uncheck the resample box. I think that is what you are wondering about. While in the image size, check to see what the dpi/ppi is. I can't remember which one is used, but that is likely your answer. as well as whatever the image size is in terms of pixels.

I have questions about this too. I think that when you set the crop parameters to 4X6 and designate the ppi at 300, the software automatically resamples the photo to end up with those settings. If you notice on your first crop you can select a large portion of thepicture or just a litte and you still end up with 4X6 and 300 ppi.

If it resamples there will always be more cropping to
do. Setting the PPI and the size without resampling
should do it.

The answer to alisam's question is that the software is resampling.
