Hi. Happy Holidays to all that celebrate around this time of year.

My first question is about deleting extra pixels. I plan on printing 4x6 prints from an online printer. I plan on cropping my images, however should I downsample all my images to 300 ppi? I took pictures with a 5 MP camera, and the files are going to be larger than 300 dpi. Is it better to send a 300 ppi file at 4x6 or a 4x6 at a higher dpi to an online printer and let them handle the downsampling?

Also, can someone recommend a workflow for preparing pictures for online printing?

Thanks again.

I've done it both ways and if you really need the smaller file sizes for a faster upload time and whatnot, then do it. Naturally, you won't notice much of a difference from 300ppi or 600ppi at a 4" x 6" size. Are you just going to run a batch resize on them? That's what I do if I'm wanting the smallest possible size.

As far as work flow goes, it really depends on what you're looking to do and what you're working with. Best of luck!
