Good to hear S & S replaced the camera. They can afford to replace a few.

The RR30 sold for $799.
The DX3000? sold for $1799.

A grand for a plastic box seems like a lot of money. So S & S could afford to replace a few stuffed cameras.

The lith ion is good for about 300 pics or so, under normal shooting conditions. ie zoom. flash, LCD.....

With flash & LCD off the DB-43 lith ion will process about 3000 pics before needing a charge.

A tip......never change your battery while underwater.......dont laugh, some ppl do.

hi snappy
never just thought of the housing as a plastic box but i supose it is .
yeh they sorta have a captive audience . with the housing thing.
a friend of a friend once worked in the dive industry and said retailers generally bouble the price from what they pay from the wholesalers .
and whole salers/importers generally double the price from what they pay from manufactures.
dont know how true it is but if u do the math dx 3000 came from the manufacturer for $449.
still like the camera though.

wow! up to 3000 pics thats like a whole holiday before u charge battery.
im looking at getting a 256 or 512 mb card and want to sell my 64 & 128mb card any ideas ? do any sellers of cards take trade ins?

With the price of memory falling constently, you're not going to get much for a "Small" second hand card. I have never heard of retailers trading them in. You might try Ebay or a swap meeting.

Or just keep them as back up in case you need them.

3000 pix on a battery charge has been tested and its true. But only if you dont zoom, flash or use the LCD.

300 pix is about the limit if you use the camera like most people.

Before you rush off and buy a bigger SD card, check the owners manual to see what the camera will accept.

ricohs web page sais my camera can take 512mb with the most recent firmwire update .

yeah 300 photos is more like what i would get i spose who wants a digital camera and not be able to use the things u got it for ,eg instant fedback by the screen.

I'm hearing you Matt.

I use the LCD when Reviewing pix, but when composing I use the viewfinder.

It always looks funny when I seen people composing and shooting with the camera at arms length. Must cause a bit of camera shake.
