So I have just read about this new camera, out this month.

Please post your opinions and reviews here.... I'm keen to find out how it compares to the exsting Sony T range, and to the more recent Fuji Finepix z1.

All very similar cameras, but I love the sound of the movie features on this one.

All very quiet out there...

It's out this week, I'll be buying it.... let's have a review eh?

NBee hello,

Have you bought the i5 ? I am eager to find info about the camera, anything more than the samsung press release. It is strange that there is no reviews for this camera yet.

Yeah very quiet isn't it? My finger is hovering over the 'buy' button, but I would just like to hear some views first.

It is cheap though, cheaper than I thought - 200 here in the UK from ebuyer for example, just in stock now, which beats the competition hands down, such as the Finepix z1.

I downloaded the manual from samsung, had a read, seems to have everythingI want, though I don't think you can turn off the LCD which I like to do to save power sometimes. Video capability looks great though. I expect I'll go for it...

To help your buying decision I have found some sample photos :

Thanks for the link - but I don't actually get to see any full size images though. My browser obviously isn't displaying the site correctly.

The photos are good if you consider the price and the size. I have to see some photos from the t7 that is of the same size, to make a better judgement. And of course there are no samples in low light conditions (with or without flash) that it's one of the weak points of these little cameras.

Have you seen the Sony T33 ?

Well, it's just like that...

jimser Jul 15, 2005 2:23 AM

I' ve seen the t7.One friend has bought it, and the first pics (in 3mp)were very good, especially the ones with good lighting.I told himnot to sacrifice the quality (5mp) for the quantity andgo and buy some bigger cards to see the results in 5mp.

I am a little bit afraid that with i5 i am going to get worst quality than my present ixus 40 but if itsquality of pics is the same or better of t7, i will be more thansatisfied. Especially if Iconsider the added bonus that with 1GB Cardi can take 64 min of video in mpeg4 ! ( xvid in maybe 2Mbps)(No need to buy a videocamera anymore !)

The bad thing is that no dealer has imported the camera here in Greece yet, so i hesitate to buy something that i have only seen in photos.

I think that Samsunghas to hurry up to promote its product , because as soon as I was writing this message, I have already seen the dpreview news about Dimage X1 about an8 megapixels (!) ultra compact !!!Its astonishing how fast the changes are coming!!!
