Yeah, that site is hella slow to load, especially for the video.

So, I uploaded it to youtube so you guys could check it out at least.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPrIyaXiIBw
.

Agree. That's one hellofa s-l-o-w site . . .

.

HOWEVER :

Re: Sound _ _ _ _ _ _ ( i'm a sound technician, so I'm extra curious ... )

>> that s-l-o-w site's video sample upload clearly has STEREO sound* ! Nice !!

* (that's lost in the YouTube upload, as always ... )

And the sound does NOT cut out while zooming, BUT - and this might be important -

at least in that particular sample there's a clearly audiable "bzzzzzzrr" sound while

zooming. Now that could be an effect of reflecting sound from the window ;

bouncing back into the cameras mics, in an otherwise relatively quiet environment.

Also, the beep from the autofocus confirmation seem to still be on !? You'd want that

to be muted automatically, when filming...

( On a separate note, you really wonder what kind of thinking has gone on before

uploading a video that's
a) shot through a glass, b) while riding a tranny (bumpy ride et all)

and c) shooting at dull, colorless semishade houses

= completely worthless for evaluation !

Was that the intention !? Or are you just ignorant ? - - Holy crap ! )

You can see the microphones at each short end of the camera body: three tiny holes

at an angle, each side. That arrangement makes me concerned of accidentally

blocking one of the mics with your hand ... :O

Guess you'll have to discipline yourself and remember, just as you easily could block

the flash on this one with one of your fingers.

Recording in Wav, is a good enough platform. Now if they just could provide

an input for external audio ( separate mics ), I'd be truly happy !

.

Paramount for any camera ought ot be Image Quality !

Unfortunately some of the scarse, true test-pics available are discouraging . . . .

Well, well, we'd all like to find the 'Holy Graal', wouldn't we ?

I'm afraid the HZ10W will turn out to be just another compromise ( there are plenty ).

( I'm gonna compare the HZ10W to the much slimmer Fuji f100fd - check it out! )

We'll know the truth in a while.

I'm curious.

Cheers !

.

Yes, all the samples I have seen are all in stereo. But its low quality stereo.

Also, yes. Unfortunately Samsung's are flippin' notorious for capturing the zoom & other lens noises on your footage. I guess thats why up until now, they never gave users the option to leave the mic on during zooming.

All pocketable hybrids are a compromise & it looks like this Sammy is no different. The pics & video look OK, but nothing that you couldnt get anywhere else.

I personally think the Canon TX1 is still the champ for pocketable hybrid. And the Canon SX1 IS is the king of all hybrids.

hey ... calm down brother ...

How's your perception capability ?

Really, did you actually miss the enlarged AND underlined AND bold-typed heading :
.
.

" Paramount for any camera ought ot be Image Quality ! "

- misspelled and all ...
.
.

We're all trying our best here, and you might want to have a go at connecting

that heading with the intention to compare the HZ10W with the f100fd.

In the context of IMAGE QUALITY that is.

And since there's a tendency to misunderstand, I'll specify just what I consider

important factors of IMAGE QUALITY.

To begin , the combined factors

high sharpness + low noise, are crucial.

Without RAW format, the chromatic aberration must be weighed in.

Then the dynamic range, and low light performance, also very important.

There obviously are others, but these are on top of my list regarding

image quality.

__________________________

Besides image quality, there are a cpuple of other propertys I'm also looking for:

- speed :

focus speed, shutter delay, start-up time,
ease of use , et.c.

- versatility
:

wide angle lens,
manual control , and yes, other little features
like sound recording, time lapse shooting, filming capability , et.c.
.

The no 1 priority, though, is the image quality !

___________________________

I'm looking for the highest possible image quality

without the bulk size of a dSLR
.

Simple aim.

Other features* I consider 'bonuses' - nice, but not important enough to

be allowed to intrude on that image quality.

We are discussing a camera here, with the purpose of taking

photographic pictures, aren't we ?

*) Stereo sound ? - there are other gear ( believe me ... ), H.Q. video ? - maybe a camcorder

more apropraite ? Extra long zoom ? - at what quality

Aspelut, perhaps you develop your EGO (ask mummy for help) - and reduce your linespacing, your colorwriting and enhance your brain concentrating :blah:

Short help: first think, then write! And do not look so much Paramount movies!

Im not trying to be a jerk, but why are you looking at Samsung's if image quality is your #1 priority??

DonalDuc

- now you're getting personal, and nobody's surprised ...

It's pathetic to see, at a place you'd hope to find grown-ups
and unbiassed discussion.

If your troubles with language and reading is bugging you,
maybe your mom could help you ( though I doubt it ).

All in all - you seem to need help son, that's the sad truth.

I've helped many angry young men like you, but first you'll
have to go out in the woods and bang your head in a tree for a day...

Try to write more mature comments ! At least try !

This should, an could, be a constructive Forum, I'm shure.

Cheers !

@ "peestandingup"

You've got a point.

Samsung's got a lousy record re IQ.

But I think you should give anybody a second chance :

greater miracles have occured, and
there really isn't anything in the specs
that opposes good IQ. or what do you think ?

We'll soon find out if this "Multi-tool" cam
is the equivalent that "has everything - but
does nothing really well", or actually is a gem.
Sometimes it happens.

Cheers !

Edit :

Oh, by the way, you wrote in an earlier post regarding
stereo sound : " .... its low quality stereo."
Got any validation for that ? Any specs ? Or how did you
come to that conclusion ?
Just curious.
