i got tired of waiting and treated myself to the panasonic lumix dmc-tz5. bought it from abe's of maine for $235 shipped. nice so far.

Yeah, where the hell is this camera already??

I have since bought myself a Sony T500. No wide angle, but damn its a good camera & HD recorder.

i've shot maybe 650-700 pics with the panasonic tz5 and we're amazed at the quality of the stills (haven't tried video yet). it's very manageable physically and the battery lasts considering how much is going on with the barrel, screen, etc.

i've been shooting in IA (intelligtent auto) mode to see what kinds of decisions the cam makes and again am impressed.

Prepare to be disappointed. Video is just OK & audio is horrible.

They have a new model coming out called the ZS3 that take care of it though. In fact, it will probably beat the pants off of every other hybrid video & audio wise.
