new evil concept with APS-C sensor

APS-C: 25,1 mm × 16,7 mm
FT/mFT: 17.3 mm x 13.0 mm

APS-C = 186% of FT/mFT

8x size of pocket cam's sensor !

I googled the Samsung NX, and found a few preview links. Indeed, it does seem like it might be the start of something great. It will be interesting to see how it is executed.

It seems as though at least some manufacturers are willing to create mid-priced convenience cameras of decent quality for those who want something more than a PS and something less than an SLR. I would CERTAINLY be in the market for a camera like this if it can supply the following:

Fast Lens (f/2-2.3) availablility

A sensor size that logically matches the MP offered, a big drawback of the PS market.

Stereo HD Video in MP4 format with zoom.

and of course, good optical and image quality resulting from a fast sharp lens and ample size sensor.

I'm guessing more robust details on this line will follow in the coming days?

This is very exciting... and the reason I have held off on buying the micro four-thirds Panasonic G1 to complement my Pentax DSLR. I hope Samsung will have a full line of lenses to go with the new NX - perhaps in conjunction with Pentax (even if they are Schneider branded). An 18-300-ish lens would probably eliminate the need for a traditional superzoom P&S. I wonder if Pentax will follow suite?

OK I know I'm the oddball here, but my first thoughts were

Is the flange back small enough that a shift/tilt adapter can be made for my Nikon lenses. And if so will it work or will I get a "no lens" error

Why doesn't this camera have an articulate LCD? Or does it? I'm sure were looking at prototypes here

I'm sure we are looking at prototypes. It certainly looks like there's room for an articulated LCD screen. With sales slated to begin in the second half of 2009, as opposed to the end of next month, I'm sure there'll be refinements. And I'm sure Samsung realizes the G1 has an articulated screen.
