Default Hz15w

I bought a HZ15W to replace a Canon SX120 that I returned based on recommendations from here. I really like the size and the speed of the camera, especially when using the flash. However I don't think the picture quality is as good. In taking a picture I almost exclusively use the auto mode and push the button all the way down instead of prefocusing so that I can get the picture I want. Under the recording menu will normal quality be better than fine or super fine, or vice versa? Are than any other settings that may improve the quality?
thanks.

jamelvin-

Your image quality will improve measurably if you use the "P" for Programmed Auto Mode and pre-focus.

Thanks mtclimber, I'll give the p mode a try. Knowing how I use my camera I doubt I'll do the prefocus much but will try to more than in the past. What focus area do you recommend? Any other settings in the P mode that you recommend? I'll do some reading on it but want to get a jump start. thanks again.

jamelvin-

The Pre-Focus is an important step, to eliminate it, reduces image quality and produced longer shot to shot times.
