Dear friends,

I just go to the showroom of Samsung at Hong Kong and test V50 with my SD card, the performance of V50 is quite good as my expectation. You can see the sample in my photo album.

Best Regards,

Rolex

Good pics. I wonder if they'll let me trade my V4 and £20 for one ?

We just recv'd one for review. Look for the review and sample photos in about two weeks. So far: the camera feels good, stylish and sturdymetal body. The swiveling LCD is nice, and big at 2 inches. Power options abound; comes with rechargeable Li-ion, also takes 2xAA batteries or one CRV3 - including rechargeable CRV3's. And it's dual-media, both Secure Digital and Memory Stick Duo card slots.

I bought the V50 yesterday in a store here in Sweden for $470. So far I´m satisfied except for one thing that is VERY annoying: The plastic cap covering the ports for USB and adapter is constantly falling off, and there´s no way I can get it to stay on it´s place. I compared with another V50, and it had the same problem. Hopefully Samsung will do something about this "design-bug".But Iwonder why they released it like this in the first place? I bought it anyway, and it has lot´s of features for it´s price. Looking forward to read the review.

When I encounter those covers that don't stay in place I usually take a pair of pliars and just rip them off. Half the cameras out there cover the I/O ports, the other half don't. At most it stops a little dirt from getting in there but it isn't a weather seal, it's mostly just for looks.

Thanks. I guess you´re right. Maybe I have too much respect for digicams, as I once hadfor computers about ten years ago...Maybe it isn´t that big a flaw after all. But it does contribute to the quality appearanceof the camera as a whole (not to mention the money I´ve spent buying it). Having used this camera a couple of days now, I can still recommend it.

Ricko,

How is the MPEG-4 performance? I am very interested in this camera for that feature primarily. Could you e-mail me some clips of the mpeg-4 video to [email protected] or post it somewhere?

For anyone looking for sample photos I found this link:

http://dizin.co.kr/dipeople/proreview/alpha5/0001.htm This is the Kenox Alpha 5 which is the same as the Digimax V50.

price of this camera here in the philippines is a rip-off. this camera is being sold in the US for only USD 379.0 and some online stores even sell them at USD 339.0. but here in the philippines, they are selling it at USD 681.0 (PHP 38,000+). people in samsung philippines may have thought that people are ignorant about digicam prices.

canon A80, to which this camera is competting, cost only USD 451.0 (PHP25,500).
