We will call the Samsung Digimax Pro 815 the "mystery camera" then.

Comments on Samsung site that disappear... Availability for September in the UK but no announcement yet on 30th of Sept... 2 stores only advertise it, no stock at all, no availability date... :?

Beste Jan,

Very very strange indeed!

Will there be a problem maybe?

Ik have send an email to Samsung The Netherlands with the message " What's goining on?"

If I get a reaction, I will inform you all.

It's in stores now here in Germany,

I could catch a quick glimpse when a colleque of mine checked it out. It's huge and heavy from what saw and it has a very big disadvantage.

The EVF is placed left from the XXL display. If you use your left eye to see through the EVF you poke onto the display with your nose everytime. After 10 shots or so you have lots of nice "nose-prints" there.

Bad ergonomics that is. If you use your right eye this might not affect you at all, though.

P.S. The lens extend quite a bit when zooming.

Valerie Roos

I went to the London Drugs camera dept. the other day to have a look at the Pro815. This thing's a monster - half again as big as my Fuji S5200 and more than twice as heavy, and it costs as much as some DSLRs!!

Schneider optics notwithstanding, the Pro815 comes from a manufacturer not exactly famous for it's cameras. My only question is, why would anyone want to buy one?

hey toshi43,

This might be a great cam for birders :-)

I do like the 15x but will wait to see how it performs as discussed by reviewers and owners.

If I do purchase one, it will be with 30d return policy on the cam per a well-known vendor.
