HD1010 from USA using in Europe?

Hello everybody,

i am coming from Germany and wanna buy the HD1010 from Amazon.com. Really nice price 349$! In Germany you have to pay more than 650$!

So can somebody tell, if its possible to use the cam in Europe / Germany? Or its only working in us??

Thanks for answering

Well I have used my Sanyo C40 in the UK and it played back on TV's over there no problem. I also have the HD1010 and like the C40 it also has a PAL/NTSC TV output selection, so I see no reason why it shouldn't.

Having said that, doesn't German PAL use a different carrier frequency for the sound? Then again it doesn't say PAL for UK only so I can only assume it means PAL in general and outputs the sound on different frequencies to cope with the PAL variations. If you mainly plan to use this with a computer and create DVD's etc then it's not a problem anyway.

Of course you are probably wondering about the power supply right? Well both my Sanyos have universal power supplies and I was able to charge in the UK no problem.

So basically I don't see a problem, except of course, the warranty most likely will not be honored outside the USA, not that it's a particularly great warranty anyway. Still better than no warranty I guess!

It seems you cannot ship the HD1010 internationally from amazon.com as it says this under the product details for this item:

Shipping: Currently, item can be shipped only within the U.S.

of course i can ship the HD1010 from amazon ;););)

i just take this service: bonvu.com

its really easy for non us. even when i pay the price for bonvu (nearly 50$ incl. shipping) it is still cheaper than in Germany chew

:D

Interesting I see it was founded relatively recently which is probably why I hadn't heard of it and in my home state too. I guess it was only a matter of time that a service like this would spring up. I do wonder if places such as amazon or the manufacturers themselves will catch on to these places and perhaps place restrictions. After all, you do have to ship it to their address first. Still, even if it does, I imagine it won't be happening for a while!

So I take it you are going to buy the HD1010 then? :)

So you take the 50$ and send the HD1010 to me?

Why would you trust a complete stranger when I thought you had it sorted with bonvu.com? The answer would be no in anycase :D

Good luck with your purchase!

I am in the UK and I've had my HD1010 since it came out and I love it, but when I create a DVD I always have to create an NTSC version and not a PAL version due to the frame rate - 59.97fps (IIRC)

If I try to create a PAL DVD the motion is very jerky as I guess PowerDirector makes changes to the frame rate.

When I share a DVD with someone I have to make sure their DVD player can play NTSC discs ok.
