I'm interest in the Sanyo camcorders, HD700 & HD1010, because of their formfactor. I'm looking for a way to capture HD video from a camcorder that can be mounted on a helmet. Two questions:
  • Does the screen on the camcorder need to be open and on in order to record?[/*]
  • Has anyone mounted a camcorder to a helmet?[/*]
Any thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

The HD1010 will work with the LCD open and folded back onto the camera. The LCD will end up facing out from the camera. It will not work if the LCD is closed facing into the camera.

Just something about mounting the camera on your head be aware that if you look around too much and too fast the video will be hard to watch. It will be better if you have a wide angle lens fitted, still you have to be aware of your head movement to keep the video enjoyable.
