Hello Sanyo,
I hope you'll help me with a couple of questions. If I buy an HD1 from Amazon this month, can I expect that the "black screen" problem has been fixed and that the lastest firmware is installed? In other words, can I expect it to be as reliable as an HD1a? Has the screen warranty been extended on the HD1? Is Amazon "authorized" to sell this camcorder? Are there others? Thanks, Sanyo! |

Authorized dealers can be found at http://www.sanyodigital.com/previous...re_to_buy.html
Yes, Amazon is an authorized dealer. "If I buy an HD1 from Amazon this month, can I expect that the "black screen" problem has been fixed" The 'black screen' problem has been solved. If by chance the unit you purchase develops this issue, then the fix is quite simple. SANYO Fisher Service will replace the lens assembly which has fixed the problem in all cameras that have displayed this issue. "and that the lastest firmware is installed?" The shipping firmware (2/06) is the latest. The USA shipping firmware is and was SD 2.0 or SDHC compatible. "Has the screen warranty been extended on the HD1?" In the USA, we have authorized extending the warranty related to the "black screen" issue. |

Sanyo,
Thanks for the prompt and thorough reply. I will be getting the HD1, probably from Amazon. You are a valuable member of this forum! |
