Just a gut feeling, butI think theyprobably stillhave the same "PC Camera" code from the C1 in the C6 and even HD1. If you look at the firmware updates for the C1 and HD1(the only two I've been able to track down) they both carry the exact same version of the image processingtoolkits: "Lead Technologies Inc. V1.01".I could be wrong because I can find the "MJPEG" string in the C1 firmware, but not the HD1? Interestingly both firmwares are nearly the same size (~3.4MB). But I suspect "PC Camera" modemight below on their priorities, perhapsbased on (lack of?) user feedback.

Virtualdub capture mode has the ability to generate a log from the USB capture stream. I am seeing about 5% missing frames. Interestingly, the missing frames are followed by a particularly large frame (20K vs the average 11Kbytes) which I am assuming is inadequately compressed. The data stream looks fine on the PC monitor, of course, but close analaysis shows it is not suitable for using as a video capture source to hard disk:sad:

As you say, I guess not many users would exploit a video capture mode, even if it was available. I have been spoiled by Firewire, I am afraid. The pristine captures to disk (which just about every DV camcorder supports) sure beat the dropouts from tape:sad:

I was looking at the specs for the HD1A, and it seems to stream both HD and SD video to the PC (see table at bottom of

Has anybody any links to reviews or results of folk who have done this?
