I just wondered if it is known yet whether Sanyo will be bringing out a lighter version of the HD camera (eg when it reaches generation 2 or whatever)? One of the main things that puts me off buying it is the increased size - 8oz as compared to 5oz for the Xacti C6.Thanks in advance for any advice/information.

You can only cramp limited features in small size.

HD1A must be the smallest for what it can do, I think.

You can find other similar and cheap so called "DV" smaller and with only digital zoom. But that is useless.

"HD1A must be the smallest for what it can do, I think."* So far maybe.* But let's remember how big the first "mobile" phones were.* I live in hope

But the primary reason the HD1 is bigger than the C6 is because of the optical/mechanical parts. If you want optical focus and zoom and a decent image, which requires lenses and tiny motors, you can only go so small.Mobile phones are all about electronics, not optical/mechanical parts.
