Just purchased a Sanyo Xacti DMX-HD1A in Japan. They said at the store that an English manual was available online, which led me to believe this was a model intended for the international market. However, I found out it's a Japanese model only. Apparantly, the international model is called VPC-HD1A. Looks like the hardware is identical, but I'm not 100% sure.

Is there any way I can change the menu language in the camera to English. Trying to browse through the Japanese menus(!), but can't find a way to change language. Alternatively, can this be enabled bya software update?

Any advice on this is appreciated!

You can download the manual from Sanyo European site.

To change the on-screen language, go to the options menu (wrench icon), scroll down, it's the option with the icon that has the letters "abc" on it.

Thanks!

However, the camera only has the Japanese language option. That's probably the only thing that separates the DMX model from the VPC model.

I guess a bit has to be toggled somewhere...

Thanks again.
