I just bought a E1. Turning the thing on requires that i hold on to the power button for like a second or two, which i guess is to prevent accidental presses (but the placement of the power button makes it hard to accidentally press it to begin with).

So my question is, how fast does the standby mode drain the battery? is it a good alternative to having to power on and off constantly? If i left the device on standby the whole day, will it deplete the power?

Thanks in advance,
Ray.

I don't have a quantitive answer for you but from my experience standby mode is very effective and I use it all the time duringshooting sessions.I mastered a quick one handed(thumb) screen close maneuver. I've often forgotten and left the camera in standby mode for days without the battery dying outso while it must consume more power than off (I think off mode still consumes a little for the clock) it doesn't consume anywhere near what it does when on. Standby is your friend, use it.
