And camera mode. I use the kmplayer's built-in capture function, which obviously reduce quality. The actual videos, when paused, lookbetter than the captured stills. Can anybody tell me a better way to capture stills from HD videos? Software such as Hypersnapdx and snagit simply don't work!

The best solution is to disable hardware acceleration in the application that is playing the video, or disable hardware acceleration system wide and make a print screen. To disable graphics hardware acceleration globally for all applications , select Control Panel>Display>Properties>Settings>Advanced>Trouble shooting in Windows 2000 or XP, on other versions of Windows select Control Panel>System>Performance tab>Graphics>Advanced settings. In both cases slide the Hardware Acceleration slider to None. Don't forget to undo once you are finished.

Good news after scanning my hard drive for two days i was able to recover my entire video shoot. i was extremely worried but i kept calm. Now I am happy to report i got my files intact and i will never ever use a seagate drive for backup what a piece of @#@[email protected] Anyhow if anyone goes through this painful process of losing data i highly recommend you get r-studio its amazing how it recovered all my files.

So now i can begin to play with the editing i will report back.
I am so glad you got your files back! I use my old used maxtor 100gigIDE drives I just had laying aroundand bought my own external drive enclosure and have had flawless results so far. $30 dollar investment in the case and boom I am set for Hawaii

Itakahashi,

The "problem" with hearing the auto focusing motor in the recordings made on the HD 1000 are noted in the instructions in the troubleshooting section. It simply states that on some recordings the sound of the autofocus motor can be heard. This is not a malfunction.

TheTurk,

The manual for the HD1000 is very clear that you should not making any changes to the files recorded by the camera with a computer. Apparently the camera needs a very specific folder and naming structure in order to see and manage the files. I would recommend that if you are to save the files to the Exacti library they should not be altered from the format produced by the camera.
