I want to get a new memory card for my Xacti CG6. I thought I might as well get a big one so it will last me a little while!:-) But are there any compatibility issues with the different cards?

I've seen written that the CG6 supports up to 4GB. Is this correct or can I use larger ones? (I've read on this forum that people are using larger cards on other Xactis)

Will the camera only support certain speed classes? Is it better to buy a Class 2 or will Class 4 and Class 6 also work? If so will they be any better?

What SDHC cards are other people using?

I've tried to research these issues but couldn't find any conclusive answers. I hope someone on this forum will be able to help.

TIA

Martin

They should all work for your CG6, any SD or SDHC card, as long as it's reliableand not a fake (bweare that manyeBay scammers sell fake SD/flash memory cards; they look real but they often don't work properly; for examples see: google searchfor fakeSD). I haven't heard reports of any SD or SDHC not working in the CG6, except perhaps for some fakes purchased on eBay. Some here have reported that 8GB SDHC cards work, and even though they haven't been tested I can't see why 16GB and 32GB SDHC cards wouldn't. But to save money I personally would just grab a few on-sale high-speed 2GB SD cards like that all my eggs (photos/videos) are not all in the same basket.

Thanks for your reply.

I'll have a think about getting normal SD cards - they will also work with all my card readers!

It's useful to know I don't have to be too picky about choosing an SDHC card if/when I go that way.

Cheers
