Doesn't seem to degrade video quality much from what I could tell from your clip. What about stills?

Taynt3d, you have the HD1000 too, don't you? Does it exibit the same behavior with cropping the 16:9 video relative to the 4:3 stills?
Nope, just checked my HD1000. The 4x3 and 16x9 video modes have the exact same field of view. That makes much more sense to me as it fits one of the two typical scenarios. I think it points to a 4x3 sensor, which is downrezed for 4:3 and cropped and downrezed for 16:9. I have no idea what they are doing on the HD700, that's freakin' weird.

Hello,
one question:

When shooting in low light, If I see a greenish grains in the picture when watching on tv, what can I do to reduce that...yes, adding more light does make it better.

there's a serious flaw with the hd700 and final cut express.
Hmm. Not sure this is a flaw. I don't know which version of FCE you have but I've copied my files from the HD700 to my drive. Created a new project and imported the files (File -- Import -- Files...) I wanted into FCP 5.14 with no problem. Log and Capture/Log and Transfer may be more suited for tape than digital files like the HD700 creates.

BTW, iMovie supported HD before Final Cut Pro did. Go figure.
final cut express 4's main selling point was how you can now import video via avchd (aka, tapeless). i'm rather disappointed, haha. i can drag files into final cut fine, but if i want to use preview so i don't have to render, then i have to export through quick time pro on a specific setting.

rather annoying..

I found the tutorials (http://www.apple.com/finalcutexpress/tutorials/) and watched the Tranfer from AVCHD one. I see how it works. Does look like a cool process. Have you checked on the Apple support forum? Maybe this will help:

http://discussions.apple.com/search....Go&q=avchd

My wild guess is that the Sanyo HD700 camera out after FCE 4 and that there will be an update that supports it. I have been wrong before. :-)

I checked a few places and there's no mention of the HD700 and FCE 4.

Non-Linear editing on the Mac: http://dvinfo.net/conf/forumdisplay.php?f=30
Sanyo discussions: http://dvinfo.net/conf/forumdisplay.php?f=115

The Apple FCE support forum might be your best bet. Ask there:

Let me know if you find anything.

Am I correct in assuming that since you gave the link to the "large"lens that is the correct one to buy?

The one I have says Large on the packaging. From what I saw elsewhere: "Lenses 10-16mm requires small and 17-30mm requires large."
