dcpmark,

have you tried ambientweather.com? its got all colors of hd700 listed for 577 and their shipping is quite reasonable (i know the silver at amazon is cheaper at 555, but the color ones are 600). I would of ordered from them but they don't ship to canada.

I'm probably going with Amazon, as I prefer the silver. Reminds me of my silver C6 :-). I usually prefer to buy from a local retailer, but no one I know is carrying it yet.

No, (I'mpretty sure)the HD700 will not take an external microphone, it has an earphone jack only (it looks likea misprint on page 12 of the manual, there is no microphone connection cable).

Yes, you can convert the HD MP4s to the old legacy AVI format using the very latest MP4Cam2AVI, just as you would for your CA65's MP4s. You need a VFW AVC decoder installed such as ffdshow to playbackAVC+AAC AVI files. But since more and more software support the MP4 file format, there is less and less of a reason to do this.

I haven't triedin yearsbutI do not think Windows Movie Maker will handle widescreen content properly.

Here are a few samples taken with my QVC hd700. Iwill post some HD clips later (I think the ones I did were too big for google to handle)

exteecha, I must say that for some reason your samples do not look nearly as good as the ones posted by Caelum... now I am starting to doubt the capabilities of this camera.

Check it out, even compressed with flash format at almost 1/5th of their original bitrate, these clips look ten times better (quality wise).

You sure you got Sanyo HD700? It looks like you have a CMOS sensor instead of an actual CCD. :?:

Yes, I agree, these files do not show the same quality on my monitor as they do on the tv. They must have been processed on their way to Google and back. This underlines the problems of handling the HD format. The quality is vastly superior to my Sony DV handycam but not up to broadcast hd standards. I would add that files played straight from the SD card on the computer monitor are not as good as the TV picture either using Real player/Media player etc.....

Just received my HD700 today, attached the battery and SD card, shot the family for 20 minutes, plugged it into my Sharp 42 Full HD TV and thought the results were just superb! I hav'nt even read the instructions yet. Bought it on QVC last week, about £320,available on 3 monthly payments-Don't know if they still have them but if they do I think you should probably buy one !

Hello Subc

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS GREAT WORK and interesting LINK !

I didn't know VIMEO website,
it seem's to be a great website for video upload, isn'it?
Does it accept original MP4 ?
Blip.tv do it... ( I have the Xacti CA65 )

I took the embed code from you "videos compil HD700"
and put it in my special sample page for many hybrid cam ,
XACTI first of course...

Hello anjoy,

Yes, Vimeo takes the RAW mp4 files from the HD700 without problems.

I must note that I did not shoot this video.
The raw files were provided by Caelum, and then I just put them together into a single file and uploaded them to Vimeo.

No problem on taking the embed link to your site. But notice that you embedded the SD version of the video, not the HD (you can tell the quality is much lower on the video you embedded).

I believe that the manufacturer (ANY) should show raw footage of new cameras before they start selling them.

Oh! and also.. I contacted QVC in the US today, to ask about the HD700 and when they would have it on their inventory.
The answer I got was "We don't know if we are going to carry that camera in the US" (even after I told them that QVC in UK has it).

sad
