Hi. Just ordered my HD1000. Should arrive early next near. Decided to purchase it after reading the reviews from this forum.

Since I got so many information from this forum, thought I should contribute some in return.

Below infor is taken from some users in Japan on Conversion Lens :

The Raynox HD5050PRO (0.5x Wide Conv) seems like a popular len for HD1000 users in Japan. Our HD1000 ring size is 40.5mm. The HD5050pro is 37mm. In order toconnect the 2, you will need a step down ring. Theguy does not have a 40.5mm to 37mm step down ring, so, he used his 40.5-46mm step up ring, and attached it to the 46-37mm step down ring which came with the lens. This means there are 2 rings between the HD1000 and the HD5050Pro. He took his lens to the shop and tested on the HD1000. These are the samples he took :

1) Image"cut out"from (1920x1080) Video Clip (Image is resized to 640x360 using Photoshop))

<Without Len>

<With HD5050Pro>

2)Still image (aspect4:3 and image resized to 640x640)

<With HD5050Pro>

You can see that there are shadows at the 4 corners if taken using the Still Image function. The guy suspect it is due to the Step and step down ring. If he used a during step down ring 40.5-37mm, the shadows should not be visible. He mentioned other users did not encounter this problem in his blog.

Anyway, you can view his blog here (all Japanese words) : http://odoroki.cocolog-nifty.com/nek...1000_6c09.html

He also took Still Image usinghis KENKO (0.45x Semi Fisheye Lens) : http://odoroki.cocolog-nifty.com/.sh...l045wide01.jpg

This is my 2nd Post. My first post in another thread is asking fellow HD1000 owners if the Transcend 16GB Class 6 SDHC card can be use or not. Nobody replied, so I thought maybe I should give some contributions before expecting replies on my questions.

Hope the above information are useful.

Thanks.

@vacuum: thanks a lot for the information and sample pictures. the HD-5050 is also well known in Europe and about EUR 60 here. there are 5 or 6 rings included but not the 40.5mm one. anyway, the pictures look very good and 0.5x is exactly what I need!

can't help you on the 16MB SDHC card, I ordered the one from A-Data on ebay ^^

greetings

Here is my set up now:

I have the Raynox 6600 PRO (49mm adapter)

a picture taken without WA lens:

and with:

The only bad thing is that you cannot use the flash when using this WA lens.....

i had to get a step-up ring from B&H, i got a sanyo 40.5mm to 49mm step-up converter and works like a charm, you can basically get any step-up or step-down ring and attach any lens on the HD1000 The Ring size for the HD1000 is 40.5MM). the lens cost me 119.99/step up cost me 19.99

i'll post a video this evening with the WA lens.

Cheers!

I have the Raynox5050 PRO with a 40,5 -> 37mm adapter and notice some vignetting in 4:3 video and stills.
In HD video mode it works great.
Is there any vignetting in 4:3 video mode or stills with the 49mm 6600 PRO?

Has anyone tried these lenses from Ebay? I'm tempted to buy the set just to try out the Wide angle lens. I wouldn't expect them to be top notch quality for the price - but would they be any use at all?

Yes, I bought them. I think they are ok. but I'm not a very professional filmer. The work good in the video modus, but in the picture modus you have black parts on the side.
But as I read this threat, this is a problem also the expensive lenses have.

I recorded a short video clip today with the polarizer, I realy like that!

Thanks for the response. I ended up getting a more expensive Wide Angle Lens from HK on Ebay (Kenko SGW-05Hi) - I haven't got my camera yet so can't test it.

I like the look of your Polariser and I've ordered the same one (& a UV filter) from the ebay seller I mentioned above. Thanks for sharing your video.

Is there a way to attach Nikon SLR lenses to the camera? It seems someone did this on the DVinfo forums, but I can't get a clear answer on how. She stated that she used a M2 redrock adapter on the camera, which I searched for but I can't figure out what parts are needed etc.

Any help would be appreciated, I just bought my HD1000 on Friday and am just now starting to play with it.

Thanks for all the info on these forums though, convinced me to buy and begin using instead of my $4k GL2 setup.
