In this thread, Caelum explains how to get mp4 files to play in Windows Media Player with some free downloads:

This is what I've done on my Vista machine and my HD700 files play smoothly in WMP.

Troc,

Thanks for this great tip!

Caelum really has a handle on these things and explains them with the patience of a good grade school teacher.

Thanks Caelum!

[suP]Ijust got Pinnacle Studio Plus 11 for free after rebates (Frys). I was able to easily assemble a Christmas video and burn HD DVD on to standard DVD (which plays on my Toshiba HD-DVD player). No loss of quality and 17 minutes of video took about 30 minutes to render and burn on my computer.[/suP]

Are you guys uploading HD-SHQ and HD-HQ recordings to your computer with no problems? When I do it, I can view the video but it's choppy and skips a lot. This is obviously a compatibility problem with my computer and it's not that big of a deal to me but it would be nice to know ifthere is a quick fix.

I'm running a laptop with windows xp 2ghz 2gb of ram and an ati mobility radeon x700 vid card.
I have been recording in tv-shq and it works fine on my computer.

For what it's worth......but not a great revelation to most of you.

I made a DVD of my HD clips using the Panasonic DVD writer. I'm sure it's not actual HD since the writer is not HD, but it plays and looks amazingly good on my Sony HD TV.

I ordered a Kingston 8GB SDHC card on Dec 10 from a vendor that still has not shipped it so I cancelled the order a few minutes ago. I've found a place that has the 8GB Transcend class 6 for $50, delivered. It's in stock. Anyone using this card witth the HD 700? The reviews on Amazon look good.
