Hi,

I just uploaded a video clip using the HD2 and the Sony ECM-MS907 external mic. The external mic level in the HD2 settings was set to level 4 (5 is max). Also , my HD1000 arrived today, I am just charging the battery and will post clips with and without the mic. The clip from the HD2 is located here:

Thanks for the example. Notbad at all, but also not free of noise.I am curious about the sample from your HD1000: with and without a mic.

and

HD1000 with external Sony ECM-MS907 Mic at 1.5 feet distance from speaker and the camera ext mic level at max "5" setting:

Hi,

I can't get the 1080i stuff to run in Quicktime Pro so I had to download and install the K-lite codec pack to play the clips. My main reason for getting this camer is that wonderful f1.8-2.5 lens aperture! It is actually less noisy than the HD2 to my ears.

Very quick! If I compare your examples of the HD1000 and the HD2:

HD1000 is louder, but not make more noise. Thezoom noise of the HD1000 is not so strong as of the HD2 (compared with the same loudness).

Hi,

I understand your meaning. I have never seen the audio specirfications for either the HD2 or the HD1000. It sounds like a poor 'signal to noise ratio'.

You have it. 'Poor signal to noise ratio, in quiet situation'! Otherwise the sound is good. I wrote to sanyo5 days before but get no answer jet.More should to this perhaps we get a software update to this. But I think audio recording is ahardware job, except the sensitivity of the external mic.

The other possibility is that the camera has good audio but the wiring or circuitry allows for too much interference from the camera's moving parts. Please let me know if you hear back from Sanyo.

Here is the answer I get from Sanyo today:

Dear Mr. ........,

Thank you for your inquiry.

We invite you to follow the procedure for the firmware update under following link (http://www.sanyo-dsc.com/english/sup...00/index.html) and to test if you notice an improvement of the audio quality. Both update files are identical and you only need at least an 8MB memory card.

We would kindly ask you to get in contact with your vendor or send directly your Sanyo VPC-HD1000 Digital Movie Camera to one of our repair stations for check-up respectively repair if you shouldn't notice any improvement.

In order to find the nearest service partner, we invite you to visit following link.

Please don't forget to join a copy of you r receipt and a little description of the encountered problems to your parcel.

Best regards

ddchesser comment:

- both update files.... meaning then file from .de and the one from .com

Audio didn't improve: Same quality as on your HD1000. I already had the right Firmwareon my cam.

Ialso wrote sanyo.de. The answer (in german) nearly the same, the also advise me to use an external mic, but this will also be not ("german: komplett rauschfrei") without any noise.
