Hi All,

I hope you can help, I'm looking for a piece of software that will convert the MPEG4 H.264 files that are produced by my Sanyo HD1000 into something that I can edit and make DVD's from in a program like Pinnicle Studio 9 or similar. I have google'd it to death and am no further forward. I have loads of files I took while on holiday and I would love to make a DVD of the trip but nothing I have tried works. I dont want to loose all the quality but I only have a DVD writer so I dont need it to be full HD or anything. Is anybody doing something similar?

Please Help!

Hi Jools. Did you try the Nero 8 trial is suggested in my PM? Just curious to see if you gave it a shot.

Hi folks,

As I've mentioned earlier in the thread
http://forums.steves-digicams.com/fo...mp;forum_id=27
program "SUPER © Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer"
from
http://www.erightsoft.com/Superdc.html

works perfect for me. And it's free!

I usyally convert original MP4 files into MPEG in 16:9 format and use my standard Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus for everything else.
Super does the job just perfect. All details you can get from in the thread.

Dude, you're doing it wrong! Nero does take the files, I just tested it yet again now and it works. Look, launch the Nero Vision component. Then choose Make DVD -> DVD Video. From there you can add the files with no problem at all. As I've said, I've done it in the past and just tried it again. If you choose make a DVD from Nero Express it will not even see the files but it will from Nero Vision.

Hi Rev,

I tried what you said but this feature is not available in the trial version of Nero 8. It says that decoding of Mpeg4/H.246 files is only available in the full version. I would be very jubious about forking out for this software unless I got it to work first. Can you add transitions and edit the video too or is it just simply a tool for putting the files in a format that you can play on a DVD Player?

Hi FZKAP,

I downloaded the software you suggested and Installed it, but as soon I ask it to covert my Mpeg 4 files it just crashes. My machine is a reasonable spec Quad core 3gb of RAMVista home preimum. Any ideas?

I have used Adobe's Premiere Elements that came bundldes with the HD1000 camera to convert and make DVD out of a 20 minute HD [email protected] clip plus some additional pictures. The PC I have is just a basic 3MHz Pentium with A Gig memory. It took almost 24 hrs! though...
