Hi, I can confirm the USB cable is for data only. Pity about that.

I am posting a couple of videos to mediafire.
2 videos (~76mb total), both shot in the highest quality 720p the CG10 has to offer.
Both videos shot ~2m from the initial subject, zoomed in max, then zoomed out max (optical only). Hand held wobble vision (stabilisation off), auto ISO, auto whitebalance
For audio demo, background noise includes:
1. dishwasher!
2. Sarah Brightman on our hifi

SANYO0019 - http://www.mediafire.com/?wfbcx2mmc3x
- light sources are overhead 2x warm white 23W "energy saving" fluoro bulbs + lamp with warm white 16W "energy saving" bulb.

SANYO0020 - http://www.mediafire.com/?yvz2zrxjxtj
- light source is the single warm white 16W "energy saving" bulb. The "jerko-vision" is the "high sensitivity" mode kicking in.

Hope that helps!

Just had another look/listen to those videos I posted - its pretty much impossible to tell the difference between the dishwasher and white noise - sorry about that.

Thanks for the samples LimaFoxtrot. I have uploaded your files to vimeo (giving you credit of course). Will post the url when conversion is completed.

Shooting photo in the middle of video when in 720p 16:9 format seems not to pause video (as it did with C5), but then only gives you a 1mp still.
It seems they are cheating and just taking a video still. I wonder if there are any camcorders capable of taking a true high resolution still without pausing the image? Even the Canon HF100 could only take still images in camcorder mode the same size as the video and not the full 3MP as it seemed to imply at first.

Is the HD2000 capable of this?

Does anyone have a VPC-TH1 yet? I have one on order and should be getting it in a few days. Was wondering if there were threads on the lens for a filter? Also does the CG10 have threads?

I just got one for C$199 and it is a big disappointment. The autofocus is really lagging and most moving images, if not focused for a few seconds, are blurred.
I thought by this time, this "feature" would be a thing of past gen cams.

I have an earlier CG65EX that was quite better.

Even at that price, I am afraid I'll bring back this TH1.

Cheers

I probably got it in the same sale as andreid. The autofocus really does suck. Fortunately for my use (car mounted), I lock it to infinity so it's tolerable.

I've uploaded a video from before I used manual focus. You can see the camera trying to cope with the scenery. Some of the video was handheld, but most of it was car mount. Handheld bits also show the shoddy digital stabilization when the lens is zoomed in on something.
