Hi- I've noticed my HD1000 likes to shut down when the recorded files approaches 4.5gb. I cannot find my manual to determine if this is true. Last night I was recording a school concert and noticed a red count down occurring after recording a 45- 50 minute segment. In looking at the file on the sd card it looks to be around 4.xx gb. Is this because of some file size limitation fat 32? If so is there any means to get around this?

thanks,
b

fat32 does have a file size limitation. ntfs or most linux partitions do not. Most cameras split in creating a second file and continue on.

One night, i left my camera on and it created a ....well i can't comment on this since I can't remember what the result was.

ahh yes i found the subject in google.

on the hd1000
your camera cannot autostart a second file

on the hd1010, it can autostart a second file

on the hd2000, who knows?

Cresho, the info forHD2000 does list that is continues recording to a new file.

And to the OP, Cresho is correct... the file size limit is due to the FAT32 file system and the HD1000 does not create a new file and continue recording.

not correct! the filesize limitation is forced by the fat32 partition on the sd card and not the camera.

lets not confuse people and yes i get corrected by others as well.
