The stock battery lasts 120 min in the FH1. I've bought generic (RIZON) batteries off of ebay and they hold the same duration. Two for $15 or something.

You need the LCD open on the FH1, I think the same for the 2000. There is no viewfinder for either. You can flip the screen over to "close" it with the screen facing out and have it operational.

Not sure about the heat issue. How would I test that?

Sanyo HD2000 will get hot, it depends how long you film with it, I don't have any temperature measurements taken, but It never gets so hot you couldn't handle it.
