Any idea when this camera will be made available in the United States? I have found it in Hong Kong and Canada (Dell) but not in US.

If anyone has purchased this camera, would you please post you initial thoughts?

Thanks

I remember the old waterproof sanyo camera was delayed for at least 6 months so I don't think they will hit the us market before summer.

Just received my Xacti CA9 today. I ordered it from Amazon.co.uk and delivery from UK to DK took only four days. So far I'm really impressed with the quality of the still images in good light. Have not had a chance to film yet because the memory card has not been delivered yet

I'll be using the camera on my upcoming trip to Greece where I expect to capture some fun footage under water and on land. Hopefully I'll find time to post some samples here later on.

Let share some pictures and videos when you have chance. Other international buyers may try Warehouse123, they ship worldwide!

This is a great and detail review! The VPC-CA9 is a great video camera for surf.

When i got to Japan next month, i think it will order this.

Hey,

I have the Xacti CA6 model (yes, the old "weatherproof" one ), and I really enjoy taking videos while skiing and then applying VirtualDub Deshaker filter to stabilize them.
It works very well, and once post-processed the videos stay quite sharp (well, as much as they can at 640 x 480). I think this is due to the CCD sensor, which is little sensitive to vibrations and sudden motions from what I understood (I mean the raw videos are shaking a lot, but at least there aren't sensor artifacts).

Now I would like to switch to an HD model, so I'm really interested in the Xacti CA9. However I noticed they switched to a CMOS sensor, and after reading some articles such as this one http://dvxuser.com/jason/CMOS-CCD/ , I'm quite scared of this CMOS sensor, especially the Wobble artifact :/ When I'm skiing, the camera is shaking a lot, and I'm afraid it would look like this http://hv20.info/yopu/wobble2.mov after stabilization...

So I was wondering if any of you CA9 owners ever encountered this wobble artifact on very shaky videos, and if you tried using post-stabilization on them ?
If you have such very shaky CA9 videos on which I could try using Deshaker it would be nice (if it's a handheld footage taken while skiing it would be even better ).
