Default Question for owners of Xacti cameras

I searched the internet and Sanyo webpages, but I wasn't able to find if any of the Xacti models is able to shoot videos (or photos) with the lcd closed. Is there a way how to do it with Xacti cameras?

yes you can as long as you flip the screen around and close it.

The Youtube clip shows the Sanyo CG65 which continues to record even when the LCD is closed. This is not the case of my HD2000; the recording stops and the camcorder shuts down after a short period once the LCD is closed the normal way. It will continue to record only if it is flipped and closed facing up as mentioned in the other earlier posts.

Unless you want to secretly video someone I don't see the problem with just turning the lcd outwards and fold it onto the side of the camera.

Someone did mention in an earlier thread that they dismantled their camera and disabled the switch that turns the camera off when the lcd is closed.

I am hoping that turning off the display will increase the battery time, so I can record for longer when I am running low on battery and I am not carrying the charger.

OK I see why you want it that way. Just for your information I use an 8gig card in my HD1010 which when full gives me 1.5 hours of video with still enough battery life left for at least 10 minutes of checking the video after.
