Default Xacti VPC-CA100

Hello,

I own an xacti FH1 for a year now and made very good videos. For this summer I would like to make underwater video. I see some videos with waterproof bag as aquapac, but there is some distorsion and the quality is degraded and not easy to manipulate.
So I would like to know if the VPC-CA100 is good enough (I think the quality is not better than the 1080p60 of the FH1 but equal to 720p60.
is the VPC-CA100 worth the price over the VPC-CA9 (120€ cheaper). I would like to make video at 60 fps.

Is there someone that own the VPC-CA100 ?
thanks

Default 60 fps = Xacti CA9 or CA100 ?

Hello itou31
I'm a XACTI FAN and i love them

I have got the CA65 - the CA9 - and the new (non waterproof ) Full HD-CG100

CG100 has exactly the same config. than CA100 but not same robustness !

The CA9 can do 60 fps ONLY ON 640/480 mode
The CA9 HD-SHQ mode is only on 30 fps

So if you want more 60 fps mode, I definitly advice you
to get the brand new VPC-CA100 !!!

If you want to have more details on all the XACTI models (2009 AND 2010)
have a look on my sample page here :

Default Re: Vpc-ca100

Just got the Xacti VPC-102 over the weekend. (Yellow)

Its a great waterproof camcorder. My only complaint on the camcorder/camera are the controls. AWFUL AWFUL. Very difficult to maneuver. It also takes about 3 seconds for the xacti to turn on.

From a quality standpoint of the 1080i its pretty damn good. Video and photos are good. Its built very well. Doesnt feel cheap/plastic at all.

Keep in mind its a consumer based product, NOT professional. Its also a 14 megapixel camera as well. (You're actually fine with an 8 megapixel camera.) but Sanyo and all the other companies out their always increase the megapixel capacity.

Maximum depth when taking it under water is 3 meters/10 feet deep.
The best way to clean the camcorder when finished with it in the pool, lake, ocean is to soak it in clean water in the sink, or tub for 5 minutes. (thoroughly)

Here is a link my wife and i posted on amazon.com that shows a little video in the pool. (the HD video was shot in 1080i 60fps)

Default stand-bye mode / CA 100 Full-HD underwater sample

Hello powermac5150,
thank you very much for this funny underwater sample ;-)

Don't worry, you will get quick used to the button control menus.
I suspect that the difficulty of buttons handling comes from the waterproof protection gums
which are probably behind the buttons...
The WATERPROOF CA-65 (model 2007) does not seem to me to have this concern.

Regarding "the turn-on waiting time"
I really advise you to always let it on "STAND-BY"!
--> Just close the screen / and open it when you'll need it !
it's much faster and more fun
No longer need to hold down the button for 3 seconds.

In fact (I have several XACTI models since 4 years - including last Full HD-CG100 who is not waterproof)
I noticed that there's no point to TURN OFF because the standby don't consumpt the batteries and lets take over the activity much more quickly

Regarding "We did notice that the colors on the video seem a little off"
I advise you to choose the VIVID color option - and keep it.
(en français "couleurs vives" )
That mode is nice and compensate very well the little off colors.
I'm always on this mode (except with the xacti CA65, who is the latest model with the so great CCD lens )

Yesterday I have uploaded 2 wonderful underwater video sample from the Xacti CA 100 on Youtube.
They are both in Full-HD 1920 × 1080 pixels - 60fps - Bitrate 16Mbps
and are direct upload ;-)
Have a look on the result compressed in .flv :
1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfZ5HWB0fQE&hd=1
2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLFKhxTxam0&hd=1

These 2 free sample will be very soon available for downlaod on my website here :
http://www.anjoyplanet.com/video/sam...ml#xacti_ca100

So everybody could test it on it own PC or MAC

Do you want more details on my XACTI (and LUMIX) tests & reviews ?
Welcome on my special page :

What do you mean with "the camera part" ? I don't understand your question...
You could try for a while to turn off every sound in the option - and look if it's not just a "wrong feeling"... ?
I notice that on some model, the sound of the outbreak of picture taking is not exactly the real-time!

Default RE

What I mean is when I take pictures using the camera mode, it just seems slow. like a delay when taking pictures.

Is it not the time for making adjustment ?
Does it seem to you slow comparing to another one ?

Default Light

Hi,

I recently purchased the CA100 and it mentions light/flash. How do I get the light to work on video?

It's mentioned " A built-in light/flash helps to brighten dark underwater scenes"
and I believe it's only for shooting PHOTOS !

Could you imagine how much power it would need to have a "constant flash like a torch lamp" ?
sorry Impossible...

here is what you need :
