Xacti HD1 already available on 10 Feb and selling at HK$5980 (~USD770) in Hong Kong.

I would try to post some sample if the shop allow me to test HD1 with my own SD card.

I am going to be in HK next month and plan to buy either the HD1 or the C6. Do you know how much the C6 is going for ? Did you get the HD 1 at the Wanchai Computer Centre ? If not where (I know HK) ?

Thanks !

Hi frogfish,

I went to Wanchai 298 Computer Centre to check whether I can shot some sample picture from the demo unit in the shop. The price of HD1 is $5480 which is a lot cheaper than those large retail chain store.

However, all HD1 is sold out already even the demo unit. New stock would be available on Monday according to the sales.

Sorry, I didn't check the price of C6.

WSWong,

Thanks ! I know 298 well - my favourite place in HK ! :-)

If the HD1 is HKD5480 now then the C6 should be around HKD3500 - 4000 (USD450 - 515) ? Keep my fingers crossed they are in stock and maybe the price has dropped further - now I just have to find the underwater housing for it !

Someone posted a bunch of samples around page 6, I think.

Thanks double0jimb0! Samples start on page 7, user and software manuals available on page 8 and 9, as well as many additional samples, including indoor low light test.

Thanks for the link to samle vids, jimb0. I downloaded the "lowlight.MP4" (showing cats on the bed)

Problem is: whenever I try to play them (in MP4 or converted AVI), my video card crash!! The same after I increase the screen to max resolution (1280 X 1024). Looks like my ancient P4 1.8 GHz PC with an Intel board and integrated video just cannot handle it!

The "converted" vid did open in VDub - and yes I see quite a lot of blocks (exaggerated by my low res screen!), but I have no way to tell if the vid plays smoothly at all.

Well I am stuck in the ol' world of "low res" for now (and yes I have a standard TV not HD), maybe some day, maybe some day ......
