Hi Razzles2,

The short answer is no. The camera goes into standyby when you close the screen and you can't record until you open it up again. Sorry.

When C6 is located in the Docking station with closed screen you can activate it by pressing "i" button on a station. It gives me filling that C6 has possibility to work with closed screen.
You, probably, should call to Sanyo support ((818) 998-7322 Ext.433) and find there someone not from "level 0" to explain you what and how you can do.

But, again, it's just my filling...

The Xacti C6 can be operated with the screen flipped 180 degrees and then closed (screen out). Obviously, this does pose some element of risk to the screen if strapped to a helmet, but that would be better than having the screen "open".
