Yea, 20481360 pixels is pretty close to 3:2...

Yea, 20481360 pixels is pretty close to 3:2 aspect ratio... like Steve said it's pretty close to most print output with no cropping require (and save flash storage to boot!).

CCDs start life as the receptors for video camera as displayed for 'tube TV screens' as voxmagna righly described... Only lately has company like Kodak or others in the camera industries have started...

The 3:2 setting has same aspect size as 35mm...

The 3:2 setting has same aspect size as 35mm film(ie 24x36 mm) rather than the actual size of the CCD. The benefit is the stored files size end up smaller which most people end up doing anyway...
