I'd have to look at the photos I got but IIRC the nest was a hollow where 2 trunks met or something like that. Total shade and I had my old Tamron 200-500/5.6 with me. Had to add a TC to it just to...

Just a mile or so outside of the Sequim Bay State Park. My wife and were up there trying to find a place to walk the dog that wasn't so crowded and ended up on the Olympic Discovery trail. We saw a...

You did great. Was this at the NWR? I was there last year to see the owlets in the nest but didn't get very good pics, very dark in the nest and a bit far away for my gear.

I was lucky enough to stumble upon one last night sitting in the top of a 20' or so tall tree. Little guy never moved, just looked around and ignored us completely even when were right below it. ...

Yep, the 150-600 seems to be the best bang for the buck out there in wildlife/birding lenses. Not in the cards for me at the moment but maybe someday.

Thanks for all the replies. Ended up getting the G5 and the Panny 43 to m43 adapter. Love the camera and the results I've gotten so far though I was disappointed that my Sigma 135-400 won't focus...

Many thanks. The G5 specs do look much better, especially the ISO. Living in the Pacific Northwest I need high ISO a lot and the rather poor performance of Oly in that what drove me out of 4/3rds....

Difference between the G5 and GH1?

Been thinking of getting a micro 4/3rds camera for awhile as I miss the 2x crop factor and have developed a taste for mirrorless but am on a limited budget. Looking at KEH I see both a G5 and a...

Nice shots and they seem to be some good lenses, especially for the price :) If you are looking for a 400mm I can heartily recommend the Tamron Adaptall 400/4. Incredibly sharp lens for it's age. ...

Indeed it does :) I won't say that some of the shots I have taken using the 30 FPS on my Nikon V1 wouldn't have been possible with my old K100D but it would have been pretty near impossible to get...

I pretty much use the old Tamron Adaptall SP lenses. For macro work the 90/2.5 is still a great sharp lens though the new model that allows 1:1 without the extension tube would be handy. The 35-80...

This is good to know as my one biggest complaint about Pentax is that I can't use my old flash on the cameras I have and for macro work I often need a flash. Might be worth getting an *ist just for...
