Default Re: Sigma SD9 First Look Posted

I just started testing the Sigma SD 9 and I'm pleased with the image quality AND the Foveon RAW conversion software - so far. The software allows you to adjust most every image parameter: sharpness, brightness, contrast, color, highlight and shadow brightness; select a desired Color Space, etc. etc.

Honestly, after adjusting the various parameters in the Foveon software, I get gorgeous results. Much better than would be suggested by the Review Update at http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/SD9/SD9A12.HTM

It's simple to fine tune the images before conversion to TIFF and the process is very effective.

I tend to set a +0.5 or +1 exposure compensation (in-camera) to prevent under exposure, where necessary.

Made some gorgeous 11x16.5" prints with the Epson 2200 printer. I'm impressed so far. Will do more extensive shooting this weekend, at an indoor Native American PowWow.

I am using a production sample of the camera, though.
