I know the out of my budget hasselblad H1D back has an external hard drive pack and an option to capture the images directly to a computer via firewire. Is there any possibility for this on the SD9? Are there any people in the open source community writting custom firmware, adding features such as FAT32/NTFS and external storage options?

Thanx

When I had my first digital camera, I wrote a shell for photopc that would download images from the camera as you shoot.

Now I'll look around for developing a simular solution for the Sigma and other cameras that work like it. I would write a VB program that would upload to a laptop via firewire/usb an image file once the file had been written to the CF. If I can get this to work, then I won't ever hav eto worry about running out of CF cards, etc for those really importent events such as weddings.
