I am not able to take correct photos with flash. The flash shots, but the pictures are most of times too dark, or sometimes overexposed.
I believe I made some flash photos when I bought the camera, but during summer I have only made dayligth photos, so I don't know if it is a hardware problem or just some menu setting that my childs have turned on.

In the manual I read that the flash should flash two times, one to make the measure and the second to take the photo.
Does your DSC's Flash two times ? If I turn on the 'red eyes' mode I still seeing a single flash. The only mode in which I have a decent photo is slow synch.

Seems that I have a sync problem or that my flash underloads.
Any body aware of that kind of problem? Any magical setting (synchronize flash) that I have not seen?

Otherwise it is a great camera.

Set your camera to aperture priority mode and take a shot.
If flash works and shot looks right, it is about your childs and settings they set.
Do not forget to set flash ON.
Another way to check your camera is to shoot in auto mode.

Thanks for your reply.
The flash works, but the shot is not correct (both in auto and P mode).
Please could you check how many times the light flashes ? I believe It has to flash two times (one for the metering or the red eyes correction, another one for the actual shot).

You cannot mistake red eye mode as the camera gives a machine gun like rapid fire burst of 4 (I think) little flashes before the main fires.

With red eye turned off, I don't think you can actually see a metering pre flash , I assume its way to fast to see and probably just milliseconds before the full primary flash.

I at least can't see a preflash fired.

You could try asking on Dpreview, they have a lot more users in the Sony forums, they might know more.

Yes, camera has pre-flash for meterring.
Yes, it is very fast and in many cases you cannot see 2 separate sparks of light.
I think your problem is very fast shutter.
Again, check flash settings in camera menu. Try to set them to factory defaults.
Good luck
